South Dakota's director of homeland security, Alan Bock, has been elected to the executive committee of the Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council.
He is one of eight state homeland security directors who will serve on the executive committee. The National Governors Association formed the council in 2006.
The council allows homeland security directors from each state and territory to share information and expertise on security issues. It also offers governors a way to stay informed about issues that affect the implementation of homeland security policies in the states.
