Two KELOLAND colleges are expanding their partnership with the addition of three new degrees.

The partnership between Kilian and Presentation College is giving its students a better opportunity to pursue a professional career.

Kilian Community College in Sioux Falls and Presentation College in Aberdeen created this "Academic Partnership" in the fall of 2006.  By joining forces and sharing resources, both schools have a better opportunity to expand their curriculum to better meet the needs of a modern-day student.

With the spring semester winding down, crews at Kilian Community College are preparing classrooms for the fall.

"New programs can be expensive," Kilian President Mark Millage said.

But they don't have to be, especially if you combine resources with another institution.

"There's the opportunity to take existing programs from Presentation's menu, offer them here and Presentation is also adding new programs," Millage said.

One of those new programs is in healthcare. Beginning this fall Kilian will offer an Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting.

"Department of Labor estimates that employment opportunities in home healthcare will increase by more than 70 percent in the next five years," Millage said.

Future professionals can also pursue a Life-Style Coaching degree.

"It's been said that the one demographic that will grow significantly over the next 15-20 years is 65 and older, as baby-boomers get older what do we need? Healthcare," Millage said.

Both schools now offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, too.
