More than 15-hundred people turned out for Saturday’s Mall Walk to support finding a cure for diabetes.
The 6th annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation event raised $160,000 this year.
That's nearly double last year's total.
Event organizers say the walk is one way to celebrate their accomplishments from the entire year, as they search for a cure.
“JDRF's mission is to raise money to find a cure for diabetes. That’s our only mission. We have 87 percent of all our money goes directly to research and so that is our only goal, to find a cure,” said Brooke Foster of JDRF.
The event included three times the number of walkers involved last year.
Supporters say the event is less about the one-mile walk, and more about supporting each other in the fight against diabetes.
