Stephanie Herseth Sandlin won her re-election bid for the House of Representatives against Republican challenger Chris Lien.

The Aberdeen native will be serving her third term in Congress. During her acceptance speech, Sandlin addressed the tough times that lie ahead and says everyone needs to stay focused as the country heads in a new direction.

"I believe that the only way we can improve the quality of life here in South Dakota and for the people we care about is if we embrace the challenges that lie before us with a clear eye and a determined spirit," Herseth Sandlin said.

Sandlin thanked her campaign staff and her family, including her father who once served in the state legislature.
