Some people in Canton are amused by the Colbert Report's spoof of their hometown; others, not so much:
Marsha Young said, "I think it's rude. I think there's a lot of good things in Canton, South Dakota."
Clem Tucker said, "It's supposed to be comedy, it's supposed to be funny. To some people it was. To a lot of people it wasn't. To m
e, nothing." People who are really steamed at Stephen Colbert can play an Internet game to take out their frustrations. Players flush out pheasants from the Canton courthouse to force Colbert to apologize for his Canton wisecracks.
Brian Schnee said, "The funny thing is, I've never heard of the guy. I don't even know who he is."
But if people are feeling down about the jokes, they can at least hope that Colbert and Canton will eventually kiss and make up.
Some people think Canton should bask in the national publicity while it lasts because the Colbert Report will likely soon showcase another Canton in another state.
