Four South Dakota teachers will travel to Turkey next month to learn about the country's culture.

Marissa Kleinhans, of Baltic, Karen Thaler, of Brookings, and Gary Pederson and Sally Rice, of Sioux Falls, will be overseas July 28 through August 6 as part of a tour sponsored by the Turkish Culture Foundation.

They were chosen from applicants attending a recent one-day workshop about Turkey organized by the South Dakota Council on World Affairs.

The South Dakota teachers and others from across the U.S. will travel throughout Turkey to learn how to incorporate their experience and knowledge into classrooms and school curriculums.

They'll learn about Turkish schools, historic relics and cultural traditions.
