There's been another delay in the preparation of an ordinance that would require mobile ice cream vendors in Rapid City to submit to criminal background checks before getting a license to operate.
The extra time is designed to give the city attorney more time to determine what information will be required.
City attorney Jason Green says progress has been made but that an ordinance is not yet ready. The matter has been postponed to May 28.
The ordinance would require criminal background checks before an ice cream vendor could get a peddler's license. Peddlers are prohibited in Rapid City and no one can sell items out of the back of a truck, but an exception allows the sale of "ice cream and other sundries."
