It's one of the largest underage, high school parties the Brookings County Sheriff's Department has ever busted.
Twenty-one teenagers were arrested for underage drinking when the sheriff's department broke up a party near White over the weekend.
The Brookings County Sheriff's department estimates 40 kids were at the party Saturday night. Twenty-year-old David Murphy is charged with hosting the party authorities say they knew about days in advance.
It may be in rural Brookings County, but authorities were still able to find more than 20 teenagers drinking illegally at this house.
Sgt. Jon Pike of the Brookings County Sheriff's Department says "We have had calls out to this residence before. It just didn't work out to where we knew there was a party there that evening going on."
Brookings County deputies have been to the rural home before but this time they were able to break up the beer and booze bash.
Pike says "Kids in the school talk constantly and the teachers constantly hear what these kids are talking about. And they get that information and they feel responsible to get that information to me."
Sergeant Jon Pike is also the resource officer at Deubrook School in White. Pike says he found out about the party Thursday, after administrators heard students talking about it.
Pike says "They feel responsible to get that information to be. It's dangerous, kids out drinking and partying at these places and they hop in vehicles and leave or they get in fights and stuff gets vandalized."
And Pike hopes by busting this bash, it sends a message to kids about future parties.
Pike says "It's just very important to let these kids know, we're not going to tolerate it. And it's a dangerous situation they could be putting themselves in."
Twenty-year-old David Murphy, who is charged with hosting the party, could face up to a $2,000 fine or a year in jail.
Sergeant Pike says two adults were also at the party and he has passed that information on to the states attorney for possible charges.
