An Eagle Butte woman has acknowledged that she abused a young foster child.

Thirty-four-year-old Wendy Lynn Edna Veit pleaded guilty in federal court in Pierre to felony child abuse, which carries a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

According to court documents, the charge relates to a report of abuse against a two-year-old foster child in Eagle Butte between Feb. 1 and June 15.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 11.
