A Rapid City doctor whose medical license was suspended last month for over-prescribing drugs is being sued.

A former patient alleges that Jeffrey Buckau endangered her health.

The lawsuit by Heidi Rivers claims that Buckau "negligently and carelessly administered doses of dangerous and habit-forming drugs."

The state Medical Board suspended Buckau's license July 10th for prescribing drugs in amounts that were not for legitimate medical purposes or were dispensed in dangerous quantities.

The doctor is entitled to an appeal hearing before the board, which has been tentatively scheduled for next month.

Rivers' lawsuit against Buckau was filed in state court. She seeks unspecified damages.
