The first shipment of corn was accepted Monday at the Prairie Ethanol plant near Loomis, South Dakota.
The 88 million dollar plant will begin producing the fuel additive in early December. It's capable of making 60 million gallons of ethanol a year.
The plant also will produce 150,000 tons of distiller's grain annually.
Much of that byproduct will be shipped to livestock feeders in other states, although some will be sold in South Dakota.
