A new hospital complex in the southwestern South Dakota city of Hot Springs is getting more federal help.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says it is insuring a $2.4 million mortgage loan to Fall River Health Services for a 10-bed addition to the 15-bed hospital under construction. The new complex is designed to replace an outdated 11-bed hospital that serves Fall River and Shannon counties. The initial
$17 million project called for 15 beds for acute care, an outpatient clinic, emergency room, pharmacy and medical laboratory.
HUD says the additional beds will accommodate an anticipated increase in patient volume in the future. HUD also is insuring the mortgage loan on the initial $16.7 million. That enables Fall River Health Services to get financing at lower interest rates.
