The battle over abortion in South Dakota begins again today when opponents of the procedure unveil the latest legislation in the ongoing war over reproductive regulation.
The bill is expected to be similar to the measure that was passed last year by lawmakers and overturned at the ballot by voters, but it will include abortion exceptions for rape, incest and the health of women.
Supporters of the measure hope to use it for a legal challenge to the 1973 Roe versus Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States.
Those who oppose the proposed ban say the issue was settled in November and it's needless to revive it.
