Mel Zelmer of Tea has been elected president of the South Dakota Home Builders Association.
The association, which has 1,700 members, met last week in Sioux Falls to hold its annual convention.
The association named George Houtman of Brookings as builder of the year and Todd Boots of Sioux Falls as associate member of the year. Dennis Arnold of Watertown was recognized for his work in recruiting new members.
The Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire won project of the year for building the Ronald McDonald Charity Home in Sioux Falls.
