Officials say a house fire in Volga was determined to have been caused by a young child playing with a lighter. The Volga Fire Department and Brookings County Sheriff responded to the fire around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire was in a bedroom on the second level of the home, according to a news release. The majority of the damage occurred only to the one bedroom.

No injuries were reported.
