Authorities are investigating the rollover crash that killed one person in Sioux Falls Sunday morning. It happened following a high speed chase.

A maroon Corsica that smashed into trees and rolled on 26th St. near the I-29 overpass in Sioux Falls. South Dakota Highway Patrol tried to stop the car at about 2 o'clock Sunday morning. After the car crossed over Interstate 29, the driver lost control, drove onto the median, and ran into several trees. Then the car eventually rolled to a stop in oncoming lanes.

A woman driving the car was the only person inside and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Sioux Falls Police Department says alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

"The reconstruction team was out there today. We've got some witness statements that indicate she was going triple the speed limit is out there," Lt. Jerome Miller said.

The speed limit in that area is 40 miles per hour. Police say the woman was not wearing her seat belt, and her name has not been released.
