South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says his office is providing $25,000 that will be used to install audio and visual recording equipment in the new Hughes County jail, which is nearing completion in Pierre.

The money was awarded from a drug control fund.

Hughes County Sheriff Mike Leidholt said the money will help provide recording equipment for all kinds of investigations. He said properly recorded jail interviews can play an important part in prosecuting crimes.
