A Sisseton man convicted of stabbing to death a man who allegedly stole his marijuana has filed a federal appeal.
Jurors in Sisseton found Lance Owen guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated assault for killing of Adrian Keeble of Rosholt on January 19, 2005, during a house party in Peever.
Owen was sentenced to life in prison and the South Dakota Supreme Court upheld the conviction and sentence.
He is now pursuing a habeas corpus action in federal court in Sioux Falls, a legal proceeding that argues constitutional violations led to an illegal incarceration.
