A current prosecutor and a former lawman were involved in an accident Monday night.

The former Mellette County sheriff was transported to a Pierre hospital to recover from injuries he suffered after he was knocked off his ATV.

Seventy-year-old Mellette County States Attorney Michael "Mick" Strain and 82-year-old George Bouman collided in an uncontrolled intersection on Main street in White River just before 6:00 p.m. Monday. Strain was driving a Jeep Cherokee when the two collided, knocking Bouman off his ATV.

Bouman was not wearing a helmet and was taken to a Pierre hospital, but his condition is not known.

No charges or tickets are expected.
